The month of June is dedicated to the Big Shout Out. It’s a nationwide campaign encouraging people to give a shout-out to volunteers and celebrate the impact of volunteers across the motū!
Aotearoa New Zealand is a nation of volunteers – more than a million of us volunteer, giving our time and energy to make a difference in our communities. Our vision is for volunteering to be valued and celebrated as a vital part of society.
It’s time to recognise and thank volunteers – give them a shout-out on social media or shout them morning tea!

Sharing our thanks for volunteers
There are a 101 ways that we can recognise the work of volunteers. Often the simplest ways of saying thanks are best. A ‘thank you’, from the right person at the right time. A morning tea shout for volunteers. A shout out of thanks on the socials. These can all have a huge impact. All of us can be the one who recognises and thanks a volunteer in our neighbourhoods, communities and organisations.

Getting involved in #TheBigShoutOut
Join us in saying thank you. There are many simple ways you can add your voice of thanks to #TheBigShoutOut. A direct thanks to your kids coach, to an event volunteer, someone in your community who is making a difference. Personal and direct is awesome. Or shout it out on the socials. You could even make a video of thanks and share with us and others. Got a team of volunteers, or lots of people who work for you who are volunteers in their spare time? You can shout them a morning tea.

We are collating a video of community members, leaders, and organisations sharing their thanks to the volunteers who have contributed to their community. We will take the videos you send us and edit them all together so that we can share it on our social media platforms and website, showing our appreciation of volunteers.
